Below is a list of questions you may wish to ask before going ahead and ordering a website from us.
Do I need to buy a domain name and hosting?
Yes you do, however we can provide the hosting for you at £25 per year and £6 per year for a .com or .co.uk domain name other domain names vary. Our price page has a list of all domain prices.
Is the payment a one-off?
That depends on what you are looking for. Firstly if you take a domain name and hosting from us you need to pay yearly for that. Take a look at our price page to see if you would require any other continuous payment service.
Do I need to design the site myself?
That is completely up to you if you come up with a design that you like we can design that for you, if not we can discuss what you are looking for and we can come up with one for you.
What should I include on my website?
That depends on what website you required but the most important thing to get your site highly rated by search engines is to have good keywords and easy to follow navigation.
In what format should I send informtion to you?
Every piece of information that you can think of you may wish to have on your site, we can always break it down later.
Do I need a database on my website?
Only if your website requires to store data in it like a CMS(Content Management System) or an Ecommerce site.
Do you provide Spam filtering?
Yes we do, we use a piece of software called 'Spam Assassin' that filters out known spam.
I already have a website but it needs updating. Can GCP do this for me?
As long as you have a copy of the programme behind your website or access to it on the server it is hosted on.
Can I see how many visitors I’ve had to my website?
Not as a rule of thumb but if you wish so at an extra cost we can install a hit counter that you can log onto and view.
How do I update my website?
If you have purchased a Content Management System you can do this yourself by logging onto your site. If not we can do it for you at a small cost. See the price page for this service.
Will everyone view my website the same?
Not always there my be slight differences between browsers but nothing major. When we construct your site we constantly test it on different browsers to keep that down to a minimum. Also if you require flash and javascript and someone's computer doesn't have it installed they won't be able to use or view that part of your page.
Can I get an email account with my website?
Yes every site I build is entitled to 1 or 2 email addresses depending on what type of site we build you. Refer to the Price page
for this information.
Do I need to pay a deposit?
Yes to cover the initial work we do we require a 15% deposit or a £50 down payment.
How far up the engine will my site be?
That depends on several factors. The main ones is how much competition is out there and by putting good keywords in your pages refer to my article on SEO.
Do I have to keep my website with GCP Web Designs after it is finished?
Not at all when we are finished with your site we will send you a copy of it on disk where you can then host it yourself or find another company to maintain it for you. However you must keep on the site 'Site designed by GCP Web Designs' with that being a link to our website.
